How many fingers on the clutch lever?

Displaying: 1 of 1

This one is for the fellow (4v and Evo) Monster and SF riders. SBK riders do not have this problem because of the geometry.

How many fingers do you use on the clutch? I prefer to use four but on hard acceleration I have a hard time keeping my hand there. I have tried two but it does not quite work well. How do you handle it?

Quoted from: Scott19_72 - "Andrea, gotta weigh in despite being on an 848. I defer to Jorge Lorenzo for once, who has "Mantequilla" inscribed on his clutch (and "Martillo" on his brake lever). I tend not to touch it unless I really need it!"

My old fashion dry clutch is more like frozen butter =) ( you and Lorenzo have wet more advanced clutches...)

    Thanks for sharing ;-)

I use 4 on my 999r but just bought the DP slave cylinder but is not installed yet. I'll update after the install to see if I change to 2 fingers. I have shifted without using the clutch, but I'll be honest, it scares my wallet!!!

LOL, yes, the light on the photo makes it look worst than it is but you are right, I am overdue for a flush :-)

Quoted from: MashBill - "I use 2 fingers.  I'm using the new CRG RC2 short levers, so 3 fingers is the max for me.  (2 max with gloves on.)   I installed an Oberon clutch slave on my S4RS.  This reduced the clutch pull effort by 25% and lets me easily operate the clutch with 2 fingers.

Awesome, that is the kind of info I was looking for. Thanks.

Ditto with my old M900. On S4Rs I noticed that it work really well at high rpm (9,000) but the gearbox does not seem to like it if I do it at, say, 5,000 rpm. Thanks for the sanity check, glad to see I am not the only one looking for creative ways to deal with it.
