Pikes Peak 2012: Postponed
As you are likely aware, there have been raging wildfires plaguing the Colorado Springs area over the past five days. Despite the best attempts to contain these fires, the 90th running of the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb has been postponed due to concerns for resources and safety. Race organizers have informed us that they are optimistic about re-scheduling the race for later this summer and are working diligently to secure the new date.
However, the focus in Colorado Springs is on the safety of its residents. To date, over 32,000 people have been evacuated from their homes and the fires continue to spread. Our thoughts are with all those affected and the firefighters who are working tirelessly to contain the blazes.
We will keep you updated as we receive more information from the PPIHC race organizers. As a result, all planned Ducati activities surrounding the race have been postponed until further notice. Check in on ducatiusa.com for the latest news on Colorado Springs and plans surrounding the 90th running of the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb.
Ducati knows that race organizers and city officials are committed to both the race and all of the fans who plan to attend. When the dates for the 90th Pikes Peak International Hill Climb are announced, it will be more important than ever that we come together and support the Race to the Clouds. We hope you’ll still be able to join us as we show the residents of Colorado Springs our support and that all roads truly do lead to Pikes Peak.
