New TCX X-Cube Boots
My new TCX X-Cube riding shoe. Formula 1-Style riding boot/sneaker. Got these for $117 delivered. Quality seems top-notch. Solid stitching and materials. Waterproof. Comfortable. Looks good. Great protection. I got these because I wanted something to ride in besides some high-top Vans or a full boot for short rides, errands and nights out. Sole and foot bed is stiff at first but breaks in nicely in just a few hours. I was debating between these and the A* Fastlane and Fastback WP. For the money, these seemed like the best bang for the buck.
After a season, I am happy with them. They are holding up nicely, very good protection, soles are still good and despite being waterproof, they aren't terribly hot in the summer. They do have a shank in the sole, so the footbed is on the stiffer side, but you can definitely do a reasonable amount of walking and standing since they are softer on the upper and let your ankle move a bit more than a hard riding boot. I can't say that I've worn them to walk around a museum or something, but I run errands in them and do multiple-hour rides with no discomfort.
